Tribal turtle

The request for this cake was tribal turtles "climbing/crawling" from the sides of the cake to the top. I made a plastic icing cutout in black and adding the detail on the turtle with red plastic icing.

Sailboat cake

I received the challenge to make a sailboat cake. A 6 year old boy from Cape Town was having his party in Durban. I started with a vanilla rectangle cake and carved out the hull and the cabin. I wanted to make the sail from plastic icing, but I was a little weary for the weight, therefore I decided on rice paper. I used plastic icing for the water and enhanced the breaking water effect with edible white paint.

Topsy Turvy butterfly cake

This topsy turvy cake was decorated with lace butterflies and ribbon roses. I did the lace butterflies with plastic icing and cutters from JEM, for the bottom tier I tried free hand piping for this cake.

Mosaic cake

I tried my hand at mosaic ... but on cake. I made this cake for my friend on her birthday who recently started doing mosaic. All the "mosaic tiles" are made from plastic icing with red velvet cake on the inside.

Batman cake

I made this small Batman cake for my colleagues birthday. The cake was a huge success and all the superhero fans loved the cake. This was chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache filling.
